Two "Selections" Today At Wolverhampton...one lined up at Hereford tomorrow if it`s on!

Hereford's meeting on Tuesday is subject to a 7.30am precautionary inspection on raceday morning.

The National Hunt fixture is under a cloud due to forecast temperatures of around minus three degrees.

Clerk of the course Katie Stephens said: "We've had 12 millimetres of rain since Friday, but the track has taken that. We've had forecasts of between minus one and minus three degrees, so I'd look a bit silly if I didn't call an inspection to check how severe it was in the morning."

Big Sunday Gamble Landed

Barry turned his attention to Kempton and one bet. Here is what he told members...

Kemp 4.15 “She’s in great order. I think one of her races came a bit soon after her run in Italy and I’ve freshened her up. She was second in the race last year and everything looks right for another big run.” Kevin Ryan Trainer of Les Fazzani.

Here is the result...

1st 3 Les Fazzani (IRE) 15-8 F

2nd 7 Mooakada (IRE) 9-2

Lie Forrit Wins at 11/4

Barry gave Lie Forrit as a confident bet for Members at Newbury...

Willie Amos was left contemplating a tilt at the Ladbrokes World Hurdle with Lie Forrit after the 11-4 favourite continued his prolific run in the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle at Newbury.
Had he not unseated Campbell Gillies at Aintree, the five-year-old would have landed all five of his most recent outings.

Lie Forrit has now earned a 25-1 quote with William Hill for the Cheltenham stayers' event after his accomplished one-length call. Amos, who had two furlongs of his Borders' gallops washed away in the recent wet weather, said: "We were thinking about the Pertemps Final, but will have to have a rethink after that.

Man Arrested

A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the deaths of riders Jamie Kyne and Jan Wilson in a flat fire.

The local man was detained by officers investigating the blaze at a complex in Norton, near Malton. The fire claimed the life of promising apprentices Kyne, 18, and 19-year-old Wilson.

Two other young jockeys, Ian Brennan and Dean Pratt, were injured as they escaped from a three-storey block just off Norton's main street. A police spokesman said he could not confirm the arrested man was the same person who was detained shortly after the incident in September and later released.

The deaths of the two young riders shocked the racing world and a series of tributes were held at racecourses and yards across Britain and Ireland. The arrested man is being held at a police station in North Yorkshire.
