Veteran Trainer Reg Hollinshead Lands Treble

Veteran trainer Reg Hollinshead landed his first treble in five years at Wolverhampton to end a recent quiet spell.

Hollinshead has sent out only one winner from his Upper Longdon stable in the last 14 days, but he bounced back with a 218-1 trio courtesy of Iron Out, Heathyards Junior and African Cheetah.

Only last month, Hollinshead was named the winner of the Sir Peter O'Sullevan Award for 2009 after spending 60 years as a trainer.

Iron Out defied a 6lb penalty and top weight in division one of the Bet British With totepool Amateur Riders' Handicap to make it two wins in four days.

Stephen Harrison took the 11-4 shot to the front as the runners turned for home and they held on by a neck from Bavarica.

Andrew Hollinshead, representing his father, said: "The step up in trip has helped him, although we had tried him over this trip earlier in the year and he did not get home.

"Since then, he has finished second eight times, but now has won two on the spin." A return to Wolverhampton is on the cards on Boxing Day.

Heathyards Junior (12-1), ridden by Graham Gibbons, made it a brace in the Clean Concierge Maiden Stakes with victory by half a length over Cross Section.

It was something of an equine family affair as the three-year-old's dam, Heathyards Lady, won four times at Wolverhampton and half-brother Heathyards Pride was also a prolific winner.

Adam Kirby produced African Cheetah (7-2) with a late surge to take the totepool Our Profits Stay In Racing Handicap by a neck from Ansells Pride.
