Smarty Has A "Smart" One!

Bryan Smart feels he has a potential Classic prospect for next year in Distinctive.

Despite going off unfancied in the ring at 33-1, the Tobougg filly routed the field in the Group Three Firth of Clyde Stakes at Ayr, coming clear by three and three-quarter lengths from Midnight Martini.

The trainer said: "She's a nice filly, we've always thought a bit of her. We haven't made our minds up whether she'll race again this year. We'll just sit with her and see how she is. If a filly comes to hand at this time of year they carry on."

He added: "She hasn't been busy, that was her third run. She can only improve and I think she'll get every yard of seven furlongs.

"You have to think of giving the Classic trials a whirl. She's a Group three winner and she's by a stallion who got as far as a mile and a half in the end.

"You'd be talking that she ought to stay and I'm very excited about her."
