Geordieland...where next?

News From Jamie Osbornes` Yard in Hungerford.

Geordieland could reappear in the Weatherbys Insurance Lonsdale Cup at York on August 19 en route to the Breeders' Cup.

The Group Two contest over two miles fits in with trainer Jamie Osborne's plan to run the grey in the Breeders' Cup Marathon at Santa Anita on November 7.

"We've got two options at the moment. One would be to wait until the Doncaster Cup in September, the other alternative would be the Lonsdale at York on August 19 and that would be the favourite at the moment"

"That gives us just over a month, which should be fine. He's unlikely to do both those races. They are three weeks apart and I think he probably needs longer between races.

"If we went to York and that went well, I'd like to run him one time and I'd like that to be the Breeders' Cup Marathon.

"If we go to York it gives us a longer preparation time which would suit.

"He had two relatively quick races. He didn't have a hard race at Ascot, but at the same time it was quick enough after Sandown and the horse does a lot of work to lead up to his races so we let him down a little bit."
