The Story...
Brian Meehan's Arcano maintained his unbeaten record with an impressive display in the TNT July Stakes.
The Oasis Dream colt was sent off the 7-4 favourite having won a strong maiden at Newbury on his debut and was always travelling well in the hands of Martin Dwyer.
Long-time leader Orpen Grey proved a tough nut to crack at the head of affairs, but Arcano scythed through the pack and wore him down to take the Group Two prize by three-quarters of a length.
Dwyer said: "I was very impressed, he did it well, I think he could be a proper horse.
"He's still a baby and I didn't want to get there too soon and be in front on my own because he is still learning.
"The Guineas is a long way off but there is no reason why he shouldn't stay a mile as he's pretty raw at the minute and he's nowhere near his best. He's got plenty of potential and plenty of scope."
Tom Dascombe said of the runner-up: "I'm thrilled, we were just beaten by a better horse.
"He'll go straight to Ireland now for the Tattersalls Million and I might bring him back for the Middle Park.
While Charlie Hills said of Red Jazz: "We are delighted. He finished well but could have been drawn a little better as he got stuck on the outside. The obvious race to go for is the Richmond Stakes at Goodwood."
