Amour Propre (7-1) confirmed himself an emerging force in the sprinting ranks when powering to success in the stanjames.com Palace House Stakes.
Life can be very difficult for three-year-olds in the sprinting division, but Henry Candy has long spoken in glowing terms about the son of Paris House, who won this race himself in 1993.
Always handy, he held a nice advantage coming out of the Dip and kept on strongly for a two-and-a-half-length call over Hoh Hoh Hoh, with 4-1 favourite Borderlescott (our selection) a nose back in third.
"He was very impressive, and it's nice to know that he doesn't have to make all the running - he did it the sensible way," Candy said.
"He'll go anywhere the ground is fast but wherever we go, the 'Budapest Bullet' (star Hungarian sprinter Overdose) is likely to be in our way.
"But I'll say we'll still have a try at the Temple Stakes (Haydock)."
