This looked a decent, competitive 3yo handicap beforehand, but rather surprisingly nothing could get anywhere near the front-running GENEVA GEYSER, who returned to form in no uncertain terms. He had proved most disappointing since winning a Great Leighs maiden last year, but was well suited by the combination of a step up in trip, switch to much more positive tactics, and the removal of blinkers.
He appeared to go off at a decent enough pace, but the flicking of his ears suggested he was racing well within himself and crucially, he was unchallenged.
He´s useful when in the mood, but a hefty rise in the handicap awaits and it remains to be seen whether he can repeat this.
I gave you this at 10 am this morning...I can`t get my breath! Barry R ps well done (?) Sunderland...top flight next season STILL! pps what happened to Newcastle by the way...he, he, he!
