Campbell Gillies had to be taken to hospital after a sickening incident at Aintree.
The conditional jockey, who is based at Kinross with Lucinda Russell, was in with a fighting chance aboard Lie Forrit approaching the second-last flight of the Liverpool Volkswagen Handicap Hurdle.
However, the saddle slipped before the hurdle and Gillies came off. He got up quickly and walked across towards the rails, but Risk Runner crashed into the young jockey and was brought down himself.
Russell reported: "He has got broken ribs and will be a bit concussed, but his internal organs are OK."
The race went to John Quinn's Spring Breeze (15-2).
Denis O'Regan was also in the wars as he came off Astarador at the second fence in the Radio City 96.7 Handicap Chase and had to be treated for some time.
Owner Graham Wylie reported: "I am going to see him in hospital, but we don't know what's happened.
"I am told he has either damaged his shoulder, his collarbone or neither."
