Richard Fahey has dominated proceedings at York all year and signed off the season in style with a treble on the Knavesmire.

The Musley Bank handler was confirmed as the top trainer at York before the day even began as he had saddled 11 winners at the track - compared with eight from nearest rival Saeed bin Suroor, who had just one runner on the card.

Although boasting an unassailable lead, Fahey sent a strong team to York's finale and Kaldoun Kingdom's success in the feature Coral Sprint Trophy was ably supplemented by Starla Dancer and Trip The Light.

Fahey said: "Three winners on the Knavesmire is always good at any time but to do it now is fantastic. It just keeps on getting better and better and better. It's (the York title) a thing I target every year and I'm sure we'll try again.

"I love this place and the owners love it here. It's just unbelievable. We can't believe how well it (the season) has gone. When we started off this year you're always hoping to beat your score of last season.

"The horses that did well for us last year have been doing it for us again this time - and long may it continue."

Kaldoun Kingdom was bagging a second high-profile success in the six-furlong highlight, running out a length-and-three-quarter victor under Barry McHugh to add to his Ayr Silver Cup triumph.

Fahey said: "He's been running on fast ground all year and he loves York. He's a fair little horse with a bit of juice in the ground.

"He's been running blinders on fast ground but he needs juice in the ground and six furlongs. He's getting a bit colty so I'm going to have him gelded. It's brilliant for the owner (Phil Smith). He's local and loves having winners at the course."

The Paul Hanagan-ridden Starla Dancer posted a 20-1 surprise as she broke her duck in the Play Jeff Or Ref At Coral Stakes Handicap and Fahey rounded off a super campaign on the Knavesmire as Trip The Light (10-1) ran on again once headed for Hanagan to edge out Snoqualmie Boy.
