St Nicholas Abbey and Coordinated Cut are among 22 runners remaining in a strong line-up for the Racing Post Trophy after the five-day declaration stage.
The final Group One contest of the British season at Doncaster on Saturday often has a major bearing on the following year's Classics.
Both Aidan O'Brien's St Nicholas Abbey and Peter Chapple-Hyam's Coordinated Cut are at the top of the Derby betting after impressive wins.
O'Brien could also run Air Chief Marshal, Jan Vermeer, Joshua Tree, Midas Touch or Utrillo, while Chapple-Hyam has another string to his bow through Morana.
Godolphin's well-regarded Al Zir and John Dunlop's Elusive Pimpernel also feature.
Eddie Ahern rides Elusive Pimpernel and he said "The vibes are good and I hear he is in good form. Aidan has a few in the there and St Nicholas Abbey is favourite for the Derby, so it is a hot contest.
"My horse is a lovely, big horse and he's done nothing but improve. I think they will get cut in the ground, which I think is what he needs.
"Mr Dunlop never rushes his horses, they don't run until they are ready for a run. I was told he was one of the best two-year-olds in the yard before and that is how it has turned out."
David Williams, the clerk of the course at Town Moor, said: "I have left it at good ground at the moment. The forecast this weekend is very unsettled and there is a band of rain set to come in. But forecasts do change all the time."
