584-1 Treble!
Cracking Lass lived up to her name to lift the williamhill.com Doncaster Shield and star in a sparkling 584-1 treble for Paul Hanagan and Richard Fahey.
The four-year-old reversed November Handicap form with Times Up in emphatic fashion as she produced an 11-1 surprise in the feature race on Town Moor.
Moyenne Corniche made a bold bid to lead all the way and easily dismissed hot favourite Times Up and Prompter, but simply could not hold Cracking Lass, who went on in the final half-furlong to win by half a length. The pair pulled six lengths clear of Prompter.
Joint-owner Mel Roberts said: "She likes these smaller fields as it gives her time to find herself. She's very game in a finish and has improved a lot since last year. There's a Listed fillies' race at Goodwood at the end of April and we're entitled to look at that for her now."
Fahey and champion jockey Hanagan struck first with Lord Aeryn (11-2) in division one of the William Hill Home Of Betting Handicap. Internationaldebut looked like landing the spoils, but Lord Aeryn burst through the pack to get up close home and win by half a length.
Hanagan said: "I was a bit surprised how they all went to the stands side. It was his first run back, so I wanted to hold on to him for as long as possible. He was a bit fresh and would have been an unlucky loser."
She's A Character (13-2) completed the Hanagan-Fahey trio with a convincing win in the Stobart Fillies' Handicap, romping clear to beat Frontline Girl by four lengths.
