Alan King is debating whether to let Cheltenham Festival winner Bensalem take on the big boys in the totesport Bowl at Aintree on Thursday.
The eight-year-old landed the Stewart Family Spinal Research Handicap Chase at Prestbury Park, avenging a luckless defeat in the same race 12 months earlier, and King must now decide whether to let his charge compete against the likes of Gold Cup runner-up Denman, or line up in Saturday's John Smith's Handicap Chase under a big weight.
The handler told his website, www.alankingracing.co.uk: "Thursday's race is a 48-hour declaration, so we have to make our minds up by 10am on Tuesday. Bensalem has come out of Cheltenham well and is so tough, but I want to see what is left in the handicap before deciding which route to take."
