Gosden Explains Decision
John Gosden has explained why he pulled ante-post market leader Taqleed out of the William Hill Lincoln at Doncaster on the day of the race.
The lightly raced four-year-old, who was due to be ridden by Richard Hills, had attracted plenty of support and was expected to go off a hot favourite for the mile contest.
"Decisions like that are never easy, I walked the track before racing with Richard Hills. It's nobody's fault, but nothing has really grown with all the snow and frost we had," the Newmarket trainer told Channel 4 Racing.
"It's not ideal ground, he could have run eighth, hated the ground, people lose money and we lose the horse for the season.
"By May I'm sure it will have all come back, but it's not there now. This would not have suited this horse one bit. I said all along he wants a mile and a quarter on soft ground."
