Sandown Preview

Andrew Balding believes a little more rain at Sandown would further enhance Night Carnation's chances in the totesport.com Scurry Stakes.

The ground at the Esher venue is good, good to soft in places, with some showers forecast, and the daughter of Sleeping Indian, who has won both her starts to date this campaign, looks favoured heavily by the conditions of the Listed race.

Balding said: "She should take all the beating looking at the ratings, but the ground is the concern for her. There's a bit of give in the ground at the moment but any more rain would be welcome. It should be fine, but the more rain they get the better chance she's got."

He added: "She's won there before so that's not an issue. I really don't know where she'll end up at the end of the season. We'll just have to see how she keeps progressing."

Richard Fahey's Arctic Feeling is forced to concede weight to all bar one of his nine rivals due to winning a Listed race at Ayr last season and was well beaten in the Dash at Epsom last week.

The Yorkshire handler said: "He's a Listed winner and has a penalty and I don't think he can win. If he got placed I'd be delighted. He just never got into it at Epsom. He was a bit slowly away and that was the end of it. A stiff five furlongs will suit him."
