St Nicholas Abbey Set For A Third Group One Win
St Nicholas Abbey looks set to bid for a third Group One win in next month's King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot.
Aidan O'Brien's four-year-old landed the Racing Post Trophy as a juvenile but endured a nightmare Classic season, making just one start when disappointing in the 2000 Guineas, but he went some way to righting the record with a gutsy victory over the top-class Midday in the Coronation Cup at Epsom last week.
He is now pencilled in for the mile-and-a-half event in Berkshire on July 23, while stablemate Wonder Of Wonders will bid to avenge her three-quarter-length defeat in the Investec Oaks in the Irish equivalent six days earlier.
"Our runners from the weekend all appear to have come out of their races in good form," tweeted O'Brien's wife Annemarie.
"St Nicholas Abbey will probably be trained now for the King George and Wonder Of Wonders for the Irish Oaks."
