Darley Cup For Dream Ahead?

Trainer David Simcock is set to declare Dream Ahead for Saturday's Darley July Cup before playing a waiting game with the Newmarket weather.

The three-year-old will be dropping back to six furlongs after running over a mile in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot last time.

Following his Prix Morny and Middle Park victories last term, Simcock prepared him for a Classic campaign, but intended runs in the English, French and Irish 2000 Guineas were all scuppered by quick ground.

Dream Ahead finally got his shot at a mile when fifth behind Frankel at Ascot, but Simcock now believes the Diktat colt's future lies in the sprinting sphere.
