News From Robin Bastimans Yard

Borderlescott is set to return to action in Saturday's John Smith's City Walls Stakes at York.

The nine-year-old enjoyed one of the highlights of his career when landing the Nunthorpe Stakes on the Knavesmire in 2009, notching back-to-back wins after claiming the event when it was transferred to Newmarket the year before.

Robin Bastiman's charge has only won once since then but he has shown up well in two starts this term, particularly when fourth in the Temple Stakes at Haydock last time.

He momentarily lost his sight that day after the blind used on German runner Overdose blew into his face, but Borderlescott was still only two lengths adrift at the line.

The Compton Place gelding was subsequently sidelined by a minor problem, but Bastiman reports the popular sprinter to be back on track for this Listed event, which he won in 2009 when staged at Chester.

"He had that mishap at Haydock when the German jockey (Andreas Suborics) threw the blind at him and then he had a little bit of an injury to his hind leg," he said.

"He did a piece of work the other day and I was pleased with him so he runs in the City Walls at York. He's back on form and the Nunthorpe is coming up.

"He still has the heart and the engine to do it. He loves York and has only been beaten once there," the Wetherby handler told At The Races.
