Highclere Update
Memory is expected to show her true colours for the first time this season when she lines up in Friday's Etihad Airways Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket.
The Richard Hannon-trained youngster enjoyed an excellent juvenile campaign and was a strong fancy for the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on her seasonal return, but lost all chance when standing still as the gates opened.
She ran a much better race to finish seventh in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot and Harry Herbert, racing manager for owners Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, said: "Memory is in great form and I thought she ran very well at Ascot on what was effectively her first run of the year."
He went on: "We hope on faster ground she'll be more effective and we know that we haven't seen the best of this filly so far this year.
"We'll hopefully know a lot more about where we are with her after the Falmouth, as she is going into the race in really good shape. The ground definitely didn't suit at Ascot. She is a filly with a great finish and she will be better on a faster surface."
Highclere's Albany Stakes runner-up Inetrobil will bid to go one place better in the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cherry Hinton Stakes on the same Newmarket card.
The daughter of Bertolini justified odds-on favouritism with a brilliant display on her debut at Ripon and showed she was up to competing at Pattern level with a narrow defeat at the hands of Samitar at Royal Ascot
Herbert admitted: "She ran very well at Ascot and she's a filly with size and scope to improve a lot more yet. She's had a largely easy time since Ascot but she did her first piece of really serious work since on Saturday and Kevin Ryan was very impressed with her.
"Even though she ran very well with cut in the ground at Ascot, I actually think she will be better suited by faster ground, so conditions should be in her favour on Friday."
